Take the doctor’s approach. Think about it…When you go for a shot, what do they do first?
They Clean your arm with alcohol… Why? Because Alcohol KILLS GERMS. So……

Wash your hands with antibacterial soap. Walk to the liquor store. (exercise). Add a double lime in your Corona or your gin & tonic …(fruit). Add celery to your Bloody Mary (veggies). Drink outdoors on the bar patio..(fresh air). Tell jokes, laugh….(eliminate stress) then pass out (rest). So if you keep your alcohol levels up, flu germs can’t get you!

‘A shot in the glass is better than one in the @ss!’

OR

Be sure you get your daily dose of fruits and veggies. Take your vitamins and bump up your vitamin C. Get plenty of exercise because exercise helps build your immune system. Walk for at least an hour a day, go for a swim, take the stairs instead of the elevator, etc. Wash your hands often. If you can’t wash them, keep a bottle of antibacterial stuff around.  Get lots of fresh air. Open doors & windows whenever possible. Try to eliminate as much stress from your life as you can. Get plenty of rest.

I went to a healthy cooking class at work and tried these burgers and they are fantastic! You should try them, too.

Spinach and Goat Cheese Turkey Burgers

1.5 lbs. ground turkey breast
1 pkg crumbled or solid goat cheese
1 pkg of frozen spinach
1-1/2 T black pepper

whole wheat buns (8 ct)

BOSTON — New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady will have surgery in Los Angeles to repair his injured knee, the Boston Globe reported Tuesday.

Dr. Neal ElAttrache, of the Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic, will perform the surgery, but a date has not been announced, the newspaper reported.

Brady, 31, suffered a torn ACL and MCL in the Pat’s game against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sept. 7. Brady was placed on injured reserve and will miss the remainder of the season.

Say No to Negativity!

A woman was at her hairdresser’s getting her hair styled for a trip to Rome with her husband. She mentioned the trip to the hairdresser, who responded:
What airline are you flying?

‘We’re taking Continental,’ was the reply. ‘We got a great rate!’

‘Continental?’ exclaimed the hairdresser. ‘ That’s a terrible airline. Their planes are old, their flight attendants are ugly, and they’re always late. So, where are you staying in Rome ?’

‘We’ll be at this exclusive little place over on Rome’s Tiber River called ‘ Teste.’

‘Don’t go any further. I know that place. Everybody thinks its gonna be something special and exclusive, but it’s really a dump, the worst hotel in the city! The rooms are small, the service is surly, and they’re overpriced. So, whatcha’ doing when you get there?’

‘We’re going to go to see the Vatican and we hope to see the Pope.’

‘That’s rich,’ laughed the hairdresser. ‘You and a million other people trying to see him. He’ll look the size of an ant. Boy, good luck on this lousy trip of yours. You’re going to need it.’

A month later, the woman again came in for a hairdo. The hairdresser asked her about her trip to Rome .

‘It was wonderful,’ explained the woman, ‘not only were we on time in one of Continental’s brand new planes, but it was overbooked, and they bumped us up to first class. The food and wine were wonderful, and I had a handsome 28-year-old steward who waited on me hand and foot.

And the hotel was great! They’d just finished a $5 million remodeling job, and now it’s a jewel, the finest hotel in the city they, too, were overbooked, so they apologized and gave us their owner’s suite at no extra charge!’

‘Well,’ muttered the hairdresser, ‘that’s all well and good, but I know you didn’t get to see the Pope.’

‘Actually, we were quite lucky, because as we toured the Vatican, a Swiss Guard tapped me on the shoulder, and explained that the Pope likes to meet some of the visitors, and if I’d be so kind as to step into his private room and wait, the Pope would personally greet me.

Sure enough, five minutes later, the Pope walked through the door and shook my hand! I knelt down and he spoke a few words to me.’

‘Oh, really! What’d he say?’

He asked: ‘Where’d you get the crappy Hairdo?’

Desperate Housewives Season Premiere

Filed under: Entertainment — admin @ 7:47 am

So what did you think of the season so far?

I have some questions! Where are Lynettes other kids, Parker & the baby daughter? Are Mike and Susan divorced? Where’s Julie? Hasn’t Gabby turned a 180?! Her daughter cracked me up, cake face in that tight princess gown with wand hopping on the city bus - LoL. Off to an interesting start…

Chai Tea

Filed under: Phat Tuesday — admin @ 7:33 am

It’s that time of year. Compliments of fitsugar I found this great article on chai tea. Chai tea is snuggy and the fact is - every ingredient in chai tea is good for you, and when you put them all together they pack a powerful punch for your immune system.

Chai is a great alternative to your morning cup of coffee - a 5 ounce cup of coffee contains 200 mg of caffeine and black tea contains half that. But that’s a stretch! I can’t see me giving up my cup o’ joe for anything but I like chai for a mid-afternoon or evening treat.

In the winter, after a long day of playing out in the snow (I wish!), it’s nice to come home, take a hot shower and curl up on the couch with a steaming cup of chai tea. Of course you can buy chai tea packets, but nothing compares to making it yourself.

Want to see their recipe?

Masala Chai Tea (serves 4)

* 3 cups water
* 1/2 cups milk (good source of calcium and protein)
* 2 packets of black tea (full of healthy antioxidants, that may help prevent everything from heart disease to strokes to cancer)
* 4 whole cloves (believed to invigorate and restore energy; helps generate heat in the body; useful during the cold and flu season)
* 1 cinnamon stick, broken into pieces (is a stimulant to other herbs enabling them to work faster)
* 2 cardamon pods (stimulates the mind and gives clarity)
* 1/4 tsp dried ginger (believed to strengthen and heal the digestive and respiratory system, as well as to fight off colds and flu; removes congestion, soothes sore throats, and relieves body aches; recent studies have shown it to be effective in preventing motion sickness)
* 1/8 tsp freshly ground black pepper (warms the body)
* 2 Tbsp honey (for sweetness and soothing qualities - adjust amount to your liking)

1. In a mortar, crush the cloves, cardamom pods, and cinnamon.
2. In a saucepan, add the mixture to the water, ginger, and pepper, and bring to a boil.
3. Remove the pan from the heat, cover and let steep for 5 minutes.
4. Add the milk and honey to the pan and bring to a boil.
5. Remove from the heat and add the black tea. Cover and let steep for 3 minutes.
6. Stir the chai, then strain it into a warmed teapot or directly into teacups.

Summer Summer Go Away

Filed under: Rants & Raves — admin @ 4:12 am

Come again some other day
I can’t stand you here this way
….. ok …. I got nothin’

It’s 89 degrees. End of September. I should be sipping apple cider lakeside somewhere crisp and clean. I had outpatient surgery Wednesday & have been struggling to regain momentum. Me and Dakota have been hanging out - me on the couch, she at my feet - watching reruns of House and dreaming of cool days and chilly nights. September in Florida. Happens every year. Misery magnified by what I believe to be the very early onset of hot flashes. Take me away!!!!
